Intervista con i LAUDAMUS

Hi guys, I'm really glad to talk to you. Congratulations for your cd "Lost In Vain". How did you manage in having all those special guests on your cd?
Well, we were discussing the possibilities of having some gues tmusicians to heat up the album a little bit. Ken new some guys, and we new a couple as well. The funny thing is that everyone we asked ended up playing on the album.

What's the meaning of "Lost In Vain"?
It's about God's calling someone, but this person doesn't really care about it. Often we're just waiting for something to happen, and when it happens we just go away and let our lifes be filled with shallowness.

You're a Swedish band, if I'm not that wrong...What are the difficulties you have as a Christian band?
Yes we're from Sweden. Sweden is a small country and I think it's kind of a tough situation for any band from a small country like this. As far as being Christians I think that people decides what to think about us before they even see us. That's both on the Christians and secular market.

We can listen to different ways of playin' heavy metal in your songs. For instance, the song "Die" reminds me something about the old hard rock from Gary Moore, while the other songs goes to a more blasting heavy rock direction. In which kind of metal do you feel more confortable?
I think that a good melody combined with a powerful riff and some energic beats feels comfortable no matter what. We're trying to get a verity of songs on our albums to get it more interesting.

Sweden is a real prolific country concerning both to the different musical styles and to the new bands coming out through the musical market. How many bands like yours are there in Sweden?
There's quite a few right now. Narnia, Harmony, Landslide,Prison, Hero, are some of them.

Are you working to something new and, if you are, how will it sound in comparison to "Lost…"?
We're working on a CD right now. It's our first CD "Unlimited Love" that we're rerecording. We're also adding two bonustracks. All the songs have new arrangements, and sounds pretty different from the first recording. After that we're planing for a new CD with new songs.

As a Christian band, what's the real meaning of your lyrics?
We're writing about different things, but we always try to look at it from a christian perspective. We dont want to preach, but we want people to use their brain and think for themself.

You were lucky working with Ken Tamplin as a producer. I'd like to know, please, what kind of person he is and what's his way of working like when is not a musician?
Ken is a supermusician and a very nice guy. I have never worked with anyone who really makes things happen like he is. I only have good things to say about him, and I personally think he's a really good example on what it is to be a christian as well.

What's your favourite Ken Tamplin's project
He has done so many things that it's really hard to pick something special, but I think you should check out he latest CD "Wake the Nations". It rocks!

In your opinion, do you think that dealing with holy matters, such as God and the Bible, is one of the best ways of spreading His words and to convert young guys?
I think it's a good way of educate people. When it comes to reaching young guys I think it's more important to be real to them, and to show Jesus love by action instead of just talking. You will soon see that they will start asking questions, and then you need to be ready to give them some answers in a way that is relevant to them, so you don't offend them.

Are there any Christian music festival in Sweden?
Yes, Bobfest, Metalzone, Solid Rock Festival, Metallafton.

Ok, we're at the end. Do you wanna say something more?
Hope to see all of you out there soon. Please check out www.laudamus.se to keep yourself informed about what's going on in the Laudamus camp. God Bless you // Peter
